From April 18th to April 21st, 2018, we participated in Exposanità in Bologna, focusing on how the healthcare sector should respond to the progressive aging of the population.
Italy records 13.5 million seniors over 65 years old, accounting for 22.3% of the population, and 4.1 million individuals over 80 years old, which constitutes 6.8% of the population. The event explored the challenges associated with this phenomenon, emphasizing the chronification of diseases and the necessary changes in services for frail or disabled elderly. New technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), were highlighted for the continuous monitoring of the elderly at home. The role of caregivers, long-term home care, and the challenges of healthcare between integrated care and technologies were also of considerable significance.
In this context, our modular systems, THE NEXTSYSTEM, and SINTESY, offer an ideal solution to develop spaces that can evolve over time, based on the needs of patients and medical teams, whose roles may require different tasks. During this edition, we presented simulations of assisted living environments and special operating rooms.
